About

Well it's official - in just 3 months time, we will know the 3rd winner of the Klemens Kronsteiner Medal!

Who will follow in the footsteps of Jason Beelders (2015) and Chris Milne (2016) to be bestowed the greatest individual honour in Australian men's fistball? And who will win the inaugural Alwin Oberkersch Medal, the new Mixed Division's equivalent for the "best & fistest" player ? Both great questions, and ones that the international fistball community will surely be hanging on with every bated breath until the night of Saturday, February 17th.

This year, the power of the votes were transferred to our individual fisters, with scorers allocating votes to the best & fistest players in every match they oversaw, utilising a 3-2-1 voting system. While it was an administrative nightmare, and likely won't be revisited in 2018, it will at least provide the most thorough voting system we've ever employed.

In addition to the medals, the standard VFL and national team awards will be distributed to worthy fistballers... although this time everyone will be seeing double (or more likely quadruple, given the phenomenal beer selection at the Flemington & Kensington Bowling Club), with the two divisions resulting in double the awards! The full list of awards to be distributed can be found below.

With the Asia-Pacific Fistball Championships set to be hosted by the Fistball Federation of Australia in November 2018, the event will double as a low-key fundraiser, with a small cover charge for entry and some fundraising options on the night. More details to follow as we get closer to the event.

So lock the date in your calendars, and get ready to get amongst the outrageous glitz and glamour that is Aussie fistball. Hopefully we'll be celebrating a few Trans-Tasman championships on the night as well...

Fist on!
